A Public forum, organized by the Association for Communal Harmony:

“Preventing Communal Violence in Our Communities”

The forum will have two components. The first component is a symposium featuring four presenters from the affected communities. They are Salma Ahmad, President of the Islamic Society of Greater Portland, Portland; Eli Herb, Rabbi, Temple Beth Shalom, Salem; Navneet Kaur, Sikh Adherent, Salem; and Benny Williams, President, NAACP Chapter 1166, Salem.

The symposium will be moderated by Dr. James A.R. Nafziger, the Thomas B. Stoel Professor of Law, and Director of International Law Programs, at Willamette University Law College, Salem.

In the second component we will develop an outline of a community action plan. This will be facilitated by Peter Bergel, a long-term peace activist, and former Director of Salem-based Oregon PeaceWorks.

Area civic and community leaders are also invited.

Admission is free and open to the public.
